Sirens and Leviathans: A Greek Mythology Reimagining (The Reign of Goddesses Book 2) Kindle Edition
Head of the Zephyr Maritime Administration.
Spymaster.
Amphitrite has always lived in the shadows of her sisters, but the shadows are where she does her best work. Living two lives was always easy enough for the Goddess; from being a pirate ship captain chasing secrets instead of gold to an upstanding government official. She has worked alongside her spies and sirens for centuries, guarding both the sea and Halcyon.
But a war has started against the Titans, and the darkness taking over the sea is now more than she can handle alone.
West Murphy has been the golden heir all his life, making selfish choices and surrounding himself with disposable people. That was until the night an act of violence forever changed his life. Now, feeling betrayed by everyone he knows, he considers himself a hollow shell of a man with no true purpose.
Until a tsunami changes the tides of his fate forever.
This is book two in the "Reign of Goddesses" series. To truly enjoy book two, it is recommended that you read book one.
TW: adult subject matter discussed. Recommended for 18+. Scenes of violence and assault are all happening in the past.

About the author

C.D. Britt began her writing journey when her husband told her she needed to use her excessive imagination to write stories as opposed to creating a daily narrative for him. Ever since she penned her first words, life has been a lot more peaceful for him.
She currently resides in Texas where she has yet to adapt to the heat. Her husband thrives in it, so unfortunately, they will not be relocating to colder climates anytime soon.
Their two young children would honestly complain either way.
When she is not in her writing cave (hiding from the sun), she enjoys ignoring the world as much as her children will allow with a good book, music, and vast amounts of coffee (until it’s time for wine).

- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2024Just as I loved the first book, I loved this one. It was so beautiful to see the two underdogs of this series come out on top in their own story. Two water deities, learning to work with each other and falling in love to save their ocean, so good! I loved seeing how vulnerable West could be when he wasn't being an ass. And I'm glad Amphitrite got to show both sides of herself, calm goddess, and furious Siren.
I loved all the characters that filled this book, and the mention of Atlantis, just the way the stories I know from childhood are interwoven throughout the story, makes me so happy!
[**SPOILER**] I am sad West lost Oceanus, his father, but I understand his sacrifice. And I really loved how Hera spared not just West's mother, but Medusa as well. Those two incidents broke my heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2022First glance: the title is clever and will make sense once you read it. The cover is gorgeous!
“Sirens and Leviathans” is the continuation of the Reign of Goddesses series. Although it follows a different sister and couple from the first book, “Shadows and Vines”, we did meet West and Amphitrite then. “Sirens and Leviathans” takes place not long after the first.
Everything West knew was a lie. When he learned who he was, he became angry at the world.
Amphitrite puts on a mask in front of everyone, unable to be herself. She wants someone to see her for who she is, to understand her.
Their relationship was rocky at first. But, eventually, West and Amphitrite came to an understanding. They bring out the good in each other and are there for one another.
Everything is not what it seems. Whether right or wrong, people do things because they believe they’re doing the right thing. You never know if someone is good or evil. Their intentions and actions are subjective to others.
C.D. Britt creates a world where you will want to invest in the characters and their stories. Not just the main characters but the side ones as well. It’s Greek mythology with a twist. The characters may seem perfect to others when in reality, they’re flawed. But, you can relate to them even if the story doesn’t occur in today’s world.
Side note: from the very beginning, I didn’t like Hera. I can’t put my finger on exactly why; I know that I don’t. However, C.D. Britt shows us that there’s always more than meets the eyes with each book. So I believe that Hera will be a character that I will learn to love, especially in her story, “Storms and Embers”, coming on October 4, 2022.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨(4 or 4.25) I can’t decide yet.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2022I really enjoyed the first book in this series and Sirens and Leviathans was even better!
The world is run by a triumvirate of goddesses after it has been all but destroyed by the hubris of humanity. Trying to put everything back together again and keep it running with some level of fairness and mercy, these goddesses struggle to keep the Titans of old out of power and the globe healthy and happy.
This book revolves around Amphitrite and her quest to return the world oceans to health while training a newly- emerged god of the ocean.
If you love mythology, power struggles, strong characters, tasteful romance, and amazing character development, this is the book for you. Start with the first book or jump in on this one. These books are great stand-alones or an engaging series. The point is...Don't miss this! You will love it!
